My Experienzzzzz.

not to bore anyone....but the conversation tonight got me thinking about my experience of writing, refining, re-finding my notes.

to put the big picture down in writing.....and to be simple, lest i ramble on,

concepts.

when i can identify the concept behind a class or improvisation structure- i am learning something deeper than the mastery of an individual scholarly exercise.

each exercise and its mastery is valuable- but owning the concept behind it allows us to do everything else, other than said exercise.



ps-
i used to try to write, during class, a blanket heading for everything we were doing. "technique" "theory" "pedagogy"
"decrouvian antique" etc.

this was not helpful to me.

thank you, cake for me too please. When you own the concept, you can then devise the technique whereby the concept is attacked creatively: spurring questions, inspiring variations, and continuing in a generative spiral.
