Sarah & Briar make practice list!!
ARTICULATIONS:
1) Tailbone down causes waist, chest, neck, & head in perfect lateral curve
2) Candy cane in depth, high medallion arms, with heels
-must be dense in the core, but light in the articulation points
-heels as motor – arms & core are involuntary
-core as motor – arms & heels are involuntary
-arms as motor – core & heels are involuntary
3) Perfect depth curve
4) Each element has 3 articulation points
-practice up hip, down hip, and center hip with all other elements
5) Elements in rotation
6) Arm undulation
-engage the core for outside muscles to move free and relaxed
LEG WORK/ FOOT WORK:
1) Ping-pong
-Down energy in the core pulls leg in on the megaphone chasee, the building energy down causes an explosion out of the other leg on the megaphone
-no weight shift, flying over the center of the core
-core and pelvis stabilized
-group tendency to separate the ideas into ‘in and out’ instead of the ‘in causes the out’
-no bending of the leg, make space for the leg to come
2) Tondue (tondue around the world)
-heel, ball toe to toe, ball, heel
-forward in depth, megaphone forward, megaphone back, and back in depth
3) Making space for the leg
-to reset the tondue around the world, make space for the leg from back in depth to forward in depth
Skill set: - not shifting core or pelvis
-must send energy down in the stable leg
-with straight leg
4) Inner thigh lifts (leg ping-pong)
-Start with weight center, one leg lifted from inner thigh, other leg straight
-energy passes through a stable pelvis
-The in of the lifted leg causes the other leg to lift
4b) Inner thigh lifts phase 2:
-down energy in the core, pushing leg meets immediate resistance in the core, causing lateral transport of the pelvis in the same direction as the receiving leg
-Tendency to pull with the receiving leg as well as to accent the up instead of the down
5) open/closed side in ½ or ¼ turns
-around the world in ½ open turn
-around the world in ½ closed turn
-around the world in ¼ open turn
-around the world in ¼ closed turn
-pivot/Brechtian moment should be the focus of this exercise
WALKS/ WORKING LEG:
1) Pulley up/down in the core, depth walk
STICK WORK:
1) behind & in front of the idea in ½ turn to the open side – straight world
2) behind & in front of idea – traveling in spiral in forward depth hallway
-2 events in this exercise:
1) changing from left to right hemispheres
2) changing from behind to in front of the stick
-difference between embodying the spiral versus twisting around the character’s vertical
-emphasis on working leg
-explore ways to not harmonize w/ the stick’s density
large stick work:
-in/ out
-down/ up
-broad/ narrow
-in front/ behind the idea
